At the end of September 2023, I graduated with honors in Illustration at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, with a thesis based on ethnobotanical studies between fruit and vegetables over the centuries. With this project, I collected a lot of scientific papers to have a big picture. The research is a huge part of my method to have a truly scientific illustration. In fact, I always like to put a lot of effort into research itself.

For my Bachelor’s thesis focus on the representation of birds and bees’ ultraviolet vision, I had the opportunity to have an interview with the American illustrator John Miur Laws. That experience exposed me to the reality of naturalistic illustration depicted in American scientific illustrations. The American method for documenting scientific illustration is a respectful reality for the artists and for the study of nature. I connected with this style and approach of scientific illustration and found it useful and consistent with my views for engaging with natural art.
