I’m Valeria Valeria, class of ‘99 Italian illustrator and graphic designer.
After completing a Master’s Degree in editorial illustration and a second Master’s Degree in
Scientific Communication Scientific Communication,
I’m looking for people to collaborate with on projects to spread the beauty of nature and its crucial role in our lives.
Books, layout design, and design are mediums and art forms that convey messages and emotions to people of all ages.
I’m interested in the connection that these products can have with the people they interact with.
I love drawing the world around me, and I’m happy if it is sunny outside. wb_sunny
I've been vegetarian since 2019, and I’m addicted to caffeine.

CLBS - Field Guide
2024, Cranberry Lake Biological Station - SUNY ESF (New York State)
I designed this field guide as a result of my 5-months internship at Cranberry Lake Biological Station (CLBS) in New York State. I worked with SUNY ESF’s staff to create a guide which helps ESF students in their time at CLBS. This field guide is designed to support students, researchers and scientists in species identification through the Biological Station.

This project explores the concept of the Third Landscape by Gilles Clément. In the photos I have developed, I want to show and immerse myself in the topographic maps of the subjects who show me their marks on the skin, which are memories, experiences, but also wounds.
The Nature of Pinocchio

This comparative book reveals parts hidden within Pinocchio, the literary work by Carlo Collodi. In this editorial project, all the natural elements mentioned in the story have their own dedicated space, and want to join the reader in a parallel reading across the story.

2025, How the Invisible Becomes Visible: Situating Scientific Illustration in Biocultural Communication

In “Linking Arts with Biocultural Conservation, Restoration, and Communication”, I wrote a chapter about the changing of our way to communicate scientific topics. The role of scientific illustration and how it is crucial to spread particular issues, and the importance of a scientific artist in conservation and research teams.

Pinocchio Riflette

This collective exhibition shows several editorial picture books based on Pinocchio's novel. My non-fiction book “The Nature of Pinocchio” was selected for the exhibition.

At the Madrid Bothanic Garden some of my works have been selected for the Green Open Gallery on the theme of green medical plants. This part of the exhibition showed the works of various contemporary female bothanical artists.
Botanical Competition

In June 2023, I was shortlisted in the 65 finalists for the Young Botanical Competition at the Shirley Sherwood Gallery in London. The subject in which I participated is an illustration of the Southern Magnolia flower. In the drawing, I highlighted a part of the flower to show how the bees’ vision could be using different colors.
